TOUR
Acquired Geoparc by UNESCO for its 500 million years of geological heritage
MANGROVE
The mangrove is an ecosystem of marine marshes including a group of specific mainly woody plants, developing only in the tidal zone of the low tides of the tropics. There are also mangrove swamps at the mouths of some rivers. It is one of 14 major terrestrial biomes defined by the WWF.
These special environments provide important resources (forestry and fisheries) for the populations living on these coasts. Mangroves are among the most productive ecosystems in biomass on our planet. The most notable woody species are mangroves with their pneumatophores and stilt roots.
